This procedures manual has been prepared in support of the Papua New Guinea Logging Code of Practice as the first in a series of such manuals which are intended to provide clear, technical guidance on the various stages of implementing a Reduced Impact Logging (RIL) strategy in the lowland and hill forests of Papua New Guinea. This manual provides implementation on detail consistent with existing forest policy and regulations in Papua New Guinea. Where regulations do no provide implementation on detail, this manual fills these gaps and guides the user towards the implementation of a reduced impact logging management regime in support of the achievement of sustainable forest management.

Preparation of this manual has been funded by the Responsible Asia Forest and Trade program supported by the Australian Government.
